1. What Is a Carronite Bath?

A Carronite bath is manufactured using the unique patented Carronite™ process of the UK’s top acrylic bath producer, Carron Bathrooms Ltd.

Each hand-finished bath provides a high level of comfort and luxury. The durable triple-layer, reinforced bath comes with an extended 30-year guarantee.

The main advantage of a Carronite bath is that its extra finishing layers are designed to keep the temperature levels of the water inside high for a longer duration.

2. Are Carronite Baths Heavy?

Compared to standard acrylic baths, Carronite baths are sturdier and heavier.

The unique frame and foot set use the extra weight and thickness of the Carronite bath to deliver additional stability.

Since Carronite baths are heavy, you may need to reinforce the bathroom floor by doubling the floor structural support to distribute the load – the weight of the bath, water when the bath is filled, and the person in the bath – effectively.

3. How Thick Is a Carronite Bath?

A Carronite bath is 10 mm thick, including the 5 mm Beauforte reinforcement. In addition, the 18 mm baseboard on the underside offers total rigidity and stability.

In comparison, a standard acrylic bath is 5 mm thick.

4. Are Carronite Baths Worth It?

Yes, definitely.

The first factor to consider is the material. Although Carronite is lightweight, it’s as strong as cast iron. Carronite is also easy to clean and doesn’t become dull like fibreglass. And unlike porcelain-enamelled steel, Carronite is not liable to crack over time.

Heat retention is next. The dense, insulating layer of Carronite will ensure that the bath water remains at a high temperature for longer.

The durability of a Carronite bath is also a key factor. The extended 30-year warranty means you can install this fixture and forget about buying another one for decades.
